Underneath the hood of the Ram 1500, drivers will find one of four engines pumping out some serious power. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid technology that creates 269 lb-ft of torque and 305 hp. Drivers can also choose the available 5.7L V8 engine that generates 410 lb-ft of torque and 395 hp. Ram offers this engine both with and without the eTorque technology. The third engine option is a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 that kicks out 480 lb-ft of torque and 260 hp. The final engine, found just under the hood of the TRX trim level, is a supercharged 6.2L V8 that cranks out 650 lb-ft of torque and 702 hp. Ram mates all four engines with an automatic 8-speed transmission. RWD is the standard drivetrain configuration but 4WD is available for all engines and trims.
2021 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling
Chevrolet powers the Silverado with four engine options as well. The standard engine is a 4.3L V6 that delivers 305 lb-ft of torque and 285 hp. This engine is paired with an automatic 6-speed transmission. The second engine option is a 2.7L turbo 4-cylinder that generates 348 lb-ft of torque and 310 hp and comes mated to an automatic 8-speed transmission. Up next is the available 5.3L V8 that creates 383 lb-ft of torque and 355 hp with an automatic 10-speed transmission. The fourth and final engine offered for the Silverado is a 3.0L turbo diesel 6-cylinder that pumps out 460 lb-ft of torque and 277 hp with an automatic 10-speed transmission as well. With the Silverado, RWD is standard but 4WD is offered.
2021 Ram 1500 Features & Design
Ram offers seven trim levels for the 1500 model in the 2021 model year. The base Tradesman trim level comes outfitted with features like a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, a 6-speaker sound system, trailer sway damping, 18-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, and a 5-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect infotainment system. The other trims add features like Apple and Android smartphone integration, fog lights, leather upholstery, bigger touchscreen options, power mirrors, wireless charging pad, heated and ventilated front seats, a four-corner air suspension, power-deployable running boards, and even high-quality leather bucket seats, and a host of driver aids.
2021 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design
There are eight Silverado trim levels offered in the 2021 model year. The base Work Truck trim comes outfitted with a locking tailgate, a 7-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, Apple and Android smartphone integration, power windows, 17-inch steel wheels, and a 6-speaker sound system. The Silverado’s higher trims add features like LED cargo bed lighting, chrome exterior trim, LED lighting, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, a power tailgate, navigation, and wireless phone charging.
