2023 Dodge Hornet Powertrain Options

If you're looking for a lack of power in the Dodge Hornet lineup, you're out of luck. It may be a CUV, but more than anything, it's a Dodge! Underneath the hood of the 2023 Dodge Hornet GT is the standard turbocharged two-liter inline four-cylinder engine, delivering 268 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission powering an all-wheel drive system with Active Torque Vectoring, which adjusts power output from side to side depending on steering direction. This is done by automatically applying light brake pressure to the inside wheels and sending more torque to the outside wheels while heading into a turn. Meanwhile, the R/T trim uses Dodge's first plug-in hybrid system. The PHEV system comes with a turbocharged 1.3L inline-four engine that powers the front wheels, while a rear axle-mounted electric motor powers the rear wheels, working together to provide all-wheel drive traction. The electric motor is powered by an EV battery recharged by an external power supply. This combination of gas and electric power gives the Hornet R/T more than 285 horsepower and an impressive 383 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the electric power, more than 180 of this horsepower is available instantly. The PHEV system is linked to a sturdy six-speed automatic transmission.
