PLUG INTO ADVENTURE

Power For The Trails

Harnessing the power of the sun, the Jeep® Brand is installing solar-powered charging stations on key trails in the U.S. so you can get charged up before taking on the trails.

Charging Your Adventure

Charging your Wrangler 4xe is simple. An included Level I charging cable will fully charge the battery in 12 hours while an available and simple-to-use Level II Jeep® Branded Charger can fully charge your Wrangler 4xe battery in approximately 2 hours.

OPTIMIZE EVERY RIDE

E-Save Mode

eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine. This saves the battery charge for later use. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. It can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well.

Hybrid Mode

When the battery has more than a 1% charge, it can run in Electric Mode. This allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The vehicle can run in this mode for up to 21 miles

How is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Powered?

As was mentioned above, the Jeep Wrangler falls into the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) category. PHEVs use a rechargeable battery pack, at least one electric motor, and an internal combustion engine. This setup for the Wrangler 4xe includes a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack, a transmission-mounted electric motor, an engine-mounted electric motor, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine. This gives the Wrangler 4xe a remarkable 470 lb-ft of instant torque and 375 horsepower while maintaining an average of 49 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). Nearly as impressive as the Wrangler 4xe's power is the range, offering 370 miles on a full tank and full charge. Additionally, a fully-charged battery gives drivers 21 miles of electric driving. You may be wondering where the name 4xe comes from. It is a conjunction of the phrases 4x4 and electric. This is because, just like the gas-powered Wrangler, all Wrangler 4xe models come standard with 4x4. Read below to learn more about the Wrangler 4xe's 4x4 systems!

4x4 Systems of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe

Standard equipment for all Wrangler 4xe models is Selec-Trac 4x4. Selec-Trac is an intelligent full-time 4x4 system that instinctively shifts into and out of four-wheel drive based on the road condition it detects. For example, while you're driving the Wrangler 4xe on dry, smooth roads, Selec-Trac will shift into two-wheel drive automatically to maximize fuel efficiency. But when you encounter loose gravel, snow, mud, or otherwise tough terrain, it will automatically shift into 4-High or 4-Low, depending on vehicle speed. While this system is standard for the Willys, Sahara, and High Altitude, the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe comes exclusively with Rock-Trac 4x4. The Rock-Trac transfer case has a low-range gear ratio of 4:1. Meaning while the system is in 4-Low, every four rotations of the transmission output shaft turn the axle once. This provides higher torque while crawling over rugged terrain at low speeds. The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe also employs locking front and rear differentials to keep all four wheels moving at the same speed to maintain momentum at the push of a button.

What Are the Trim Levels and Features of the 2023 Wrangler 4xe?

The only real difference between the traditional Wrangler and the Wrangler 4xe is the powertrain. Everything else, from the removable top and doors to the rugged design, remains the same. The Wrangler 4xe lineup only comes in the Wrangler's Unlimited body style, offering four doors. While it has been part of the Wrangler lineup for years, the Willys trim joins the Wrangler 4xe lineup in 2023. The Wrangler Willys 4xe kicks off the lineup with 32-inch mud-terrain tires, FOX shock absorbers, a locking rear differential, LED lighting, and rock rails. Following the Willys is the Sahara, featuring 20-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a proximity key, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with navigation. The Rubicon follows with 33-inch all-terrain tires, FOX shock absorbers, Rock-Trac 4x4, an electronically disconnecting front sway bar, high-clearance fender flares, and functional hood vents. Atop the Wrangler 4xe lineup is the High Altitude trim. This provides a premium look and feel with a full-body-color appearance, including the hard top, Nappa leather-trimmed upholstery, blindspot monitoring, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, and more!
